The Amazon is the only place on earth where rubber trees grow in the wild. Veja works with Amazonian rubber tappers to fairly and sustainably source latex extracted from rubber trees to use in the soles of their trainers—which in turn prevents deforestation and the survival of the rainforest.

Other materials include organic cotton, recycled cotton, vegetable tanned leathers, and faux leathers made from recycled plastic bottles. Veja trainers are all fair trade manufactured in South Brazil.

Fair trade is one of the three fundamental pillars VEJA is build on. Cotton and rubber are purchased directly from producers in Brazil and Peru.
